Counting the rings within the circle of a cut tree trunk is how to determine the tree's age, they say. I'm not sure this would work in the case of women, though. The result would be quite a mess on the floor, I think. But you can't just ask them, can you? They get quite iffy if they're asked their age.

There it was. A rendered wall on the side of a pub. Infected with a deadly growth of some sort of lichen. Giving it a kind of painterly appearance which I felt was worth capturing. A picture by nature itself.

We were in Staithes on the East coast of the UK near Whitby. Walking along the far side of the little harbour's wall there were three concrete posts in a row. Just look at what the seaside weather had done to them. This is the first one of a triptych. See below for the other two. I have them all in a row in separate natural wood frames in one of our rooms.
